March Meeting
What a fun class! Mary Reyes has proven herself to be a great teacher. Everyone came to class excited to make this wonderful wallhanging. What a nice variety of colors and ideas! Good luck sorting through this blog entry!
There was a lot of great sew 'n tell to inspire us, too! Mary had two great bird wallhangings and a nice bage to carry her things to quilt classes.

Happy New Year!!! And almost the end of January - yikes!!
From the news & pictures I've been getting - Wisconsin has had a winter to remember!!! I'm sure you're ready for a break from the snow & cold - I am only hoping that this has given you some extra quilting time!

Have you planned your projects for the new year yet? We have 3 weddings coming up this summer, so I have plenty of gifts to work on. Speaking of weddings, we attended a wedding in Chicago on Dec. 21 & one of the highlights there was a gorgeous quilt! The ceremony had some Jewish traditions included, one of them was this quilt that was the backdrop for the bride & groom as they exchanged vows, from the bride's family. It gets passed on to the next couple that gets married, & each pair gets to pick out a flower which is then appliqued onto the quilt. This couple picked out the California poppy because they had met in California. A pretty neat tradition!!
I listened to an American Patchwork & Quilting radio broadcast that featured Karen Nyberg - the first astronaut to quilt in space!! I'm hoping this video will work ok - if not, it's available on YouTube & Pinterest. I guess there are some benefits to gravity - it was pretty tough for her to try & stitch up there at the space station!! She has set up a challenge with this - to make a 9 & 1/2" star block (any pattern) to send in that will be part of a large quilt to be displayed at the 40th Anniversary of the Houston International Quilt Festival next fall. Anyone want to join in?
Thinking of you all - have fun at your mini retreat this weekend!!!
